Firefighters put out a bonfire ‘left overnight’ with buckets of water in the woods this morning.
Black smoke was visible as far away as Sutton after the fire in Pitwood Park off Waterfield, Tadworth.
A crew from Epsom fire station had to put out the fire after being called at 10am.
A bonfire started in the woods had been abandoned from the night before without being fully extinguished, a spokesman from the station told the Epsom Guardian.
