A Facebook plea for help to complete a retreat for veterans and service families has been shared more than 100,000 times.
Ex-serviceman Keith Lawson asked for help to finish the Lee Rigby House in North Staffordshire.
The Lee Rigby Foundation, responsible for building the home, was set up by the mother of a British Army soldier who was murdered in Woolwich in 2013.
The post, which had been shared 111,760 at the time of writing, read: “So today I drove up to Staffordshire to Lee Rigby House to measure for 27 sets of blinds which I will supply and fit free of charge.
“It broke my heart to see only three people on site struggling to get the place finished.
“They need to open in September and have bookings already for bereaved families who have lost loved ones in conflict.
“If anyone can offer labour - they need tilers, bathroom fitters, landscapers, decorators and labourers. If you or anyone you know can help please email admin@leerigbyfoundation.org.
“Thank you x
“Please feel free to share.”
Mr Lawson said the response has been “overwhelming” and offers have been “flooding in”.
He added: “The great British public truly are wonderful.”
The Facebook plea
As well as Britain, Mr Lawson said he has offers coming in from Ireland, Spain, Denmark, Australia, New Zealand, Gran Canaria and America.
He said: “This has led me to one conclusion- good will always prevail over evil.”
