Feast on some of the most tantalising dishes and desserts from around the world when top street food traders descend on Greenwich Market next week.

From Peckham to the Philippines, the Friday Street Food Fest at Greenwich Market will have it all on when the festival celebrates London Food Month on Friday June 23.

Quench your thirst with either a delicious local brew or a sweet beverage, as traders will be joined by The London Brewers’ Market and the LP Cocktail Bar, providing you with flavourful food and drink combinations.

Some names on the menu include Pesky Buns, Pig Dogs and Brisket, Pimp My Ramen, No 57A, Lam Jam and Big V London.

Both organic and vegan treats will also be available, as well as cakes and puddings for the sweet-toothed customers.

Pimp My Ramen’s Harry Santos, who lives in Lee and has had his food stall on Greenwich Market for over two years, welcomes Friday Food Fest.

He believes that there is a “massive potential for new nightlife events in Greenwich” which the event aims to do by drawing in visitors from all over.

He said: “This could be a great draw to bring in visitors from Deptford and Lewisham. Street food is booming in London and a stall at the Market is a great opportunity for creative cooks to meet their customers without having to open a restaurant.”

Newcomers to the Greenwich Market scene are Laurence Stevens and Frank Sweeney, the owners salt beef and rib stall Salt Shed, who will be at Friday Food Fest.

They are known for their signature salt beef ribs that come with honey mustard and are served with sweet potato chips, using meat that is sourced from English and Irish farms.

Laurence said: “We see this event as a positive opportunity to create an evening food community where local visitors can enjoy the atmosphere and relax with a great beer.

“London is a cosmopolitan city with so many good cuisines and it is good to be a part of it. Our goal is to serve traditional British flavours with a twist.”

Gillie Bexson, Head of Property at Greenwich Hospital, spoke about the motivation behind the first-ever Friday Street Food Fest. She said: “The new Pavilion and the refurbished Market provides a wonderful space for evening events.

“We see this as a great opportunity to spread the word about our amazingly creative street food traders. Having the London Brewer’s Market and The LP Bar as guests makes for a very special evening.”

Music for the evening will be presented by The Disco Biscuit DJs.
