A Bexley teacher has been named the best in Kent for his ability to inspire a love of music and create opportunities for young musicians.
Stuart Yeates, who teaches at Bexleyheath Academy, was named Kent Secondary School Teacher of the Year at a ceremony organised by School Inspirational Services.
Fifty finalists from a record 700 nominations were invited to the awards dinner at Mecure Great Danes Hotel in Maidstone.
School Inspirational Services chief executive Simon Dolby said: “It gives me great pleasure to showcase the excellence and achievement taking place in the classroom every day.
“These awards are a big pat on the back to those going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure their pupils enjoy learning, build in confidence, and achieve their best.”
Bexleyheath Academy principal Mark Pinchin told News Shopper: “Mr Yeates is an outstanding teacher. His contribution to extra-curricular activities is beyond praise. We are so proud, he is an inspiration to all the students in our school. He is adored by the students, respected by staff and we are very lucky to have him. He is a wonderful teacher.”
