Students from a school in Bexley "trashed" a park forcing teachers and members of the public to clean up after them.

Senior staff at Beths Grammar School went to Golden Acre Park in Bexley Village to clear up mess left by students celebrating their last day of term.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said the students were in their uniform as they left the park in a mess.

She said: “In the Golden Acre Park in Bexley village. Beths students have trashed the park, and then left the mess for the Beth’s Teachers to clear up. Absolutely disgusting.

“We saw them at 3.15pm.”

She also said that she saw evidence of alcohol and nitrous oxide use.

Richard Blyghton, the headteacher at Beths, said members of the staff spent about half an hour clearing up the mess.

He said: “As a school we were made aware about a significant amount of rubbish left in the Golden Acre.

“Senior members of staff went out with litter pickers and some members of the public got involved in removing the rubbish. It was all very jovial.

“We removed all the rubbish and left the park in a state you would expect to find it.”

Mr Blyghton did not want to comment on allegations made that alcohol and nitrous oxide canisters were left in the park.

“We cleared all the rubbish. It took us about 20 minutes to half hour. We are very grateful for any help we got from the public.”
