Lewisham will stand united with Manchester following the terror attack that killed 22 concert-goers including an eight-year-old girl.

A minute's silence will be held in solidarity with the city and the victims after a suicide bomber targeted an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena attended mainly by children and teenagers.

Tonight’s vigil (May 24), organised by South East London Stand Up to Racism and supported by Lewisham Islamic Centre, will also aim to unite the Lewisham community against discrimination.

A statement released by Stand Up to Racism said: “After the horrific attack on Manchester we are calling on people from across South East London to come together to show solidarity with the victims and the people of Manchester and also to stand up to those who seek to use this saddening event to sow division in our communities.

“The vigil will have a minutes silence for the victims of the Manchester attack, and to show solidarity with their families, and the people of Manchester.”

Candles and banners will be handed out at the vigil that will take place between 6.30pm and 7.30pm at Lewisham Clocktower.
