The family of one of the men who died in a car crash in Dartford last weekend have paid tribute to him as ‘one of the best friends anybody could have’.

Mike Crampton and James Montegriffo, both in their 20s, died in a crash on the A20 near Farningham in the early hours of Saturday, April 29.
Michael’s family have now paid tribute to the young musician.

In a statement, they said: “Michael was a loving son, an incredible brother and the best friend that anybody could have. There are no words to encapsulate the sheer joy and happiness Michael brought to so many.

“A sense of humour, his presence in the room brought a smile to every face.

“A brilliant young man with great ambition and a great musician, an amazing array of friends and a heart filled to the brim with the deepest love for everyone.”

A crowdfunding page set up to support the families of the young men has exceeded its target in little over a day.

In a tribute left on the Just-giving page, Jack Coleman wrote: “Lots of people have asked me if there is somewhere they can donate to the families of Mike and James, our beloved friends.

“So here it is, it is my intention to split whatever money is raised here between the two families for them to do whatever they wish to with.

“It is entirely their choice.

“Stay strong everyone and take care of each other.”

The page has raised more than £2,000 - three times the target set.

Jack wrote: "It truly is heart-warming and just shows how loved mike and James were."

Officers are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who may have seen the crash, which happened at around 1.20am.

They would like to hear from anyone who saw a black Vauxhall Insignia with a 61 registration plate being driven on the A20 from the direction of Brands Hatch towards Swanley.

Witnesses are asked to call the serious collision investigation unit appeal Line on 01622 798535.
