Bluewater Shopping Centre is set to undergo a major redevelopment that will bring more than 2,000 jobs with it.

Planning permission was granted to extend the West village section of the shopping centre from Pizza Express out to the nursery.

There will also be five separate extensions to the main shopping centre that will bring larger units and a re-configured layout.

“They will also create up to 500 jobs during construction and 2,300 once complete.

“Following the committee’s decision, our focus is now on working in partnership with our stakeholders on the detail of the proposals over the coming months.”

The report submitted to Dartford Council says there will be an increase of up to 30,000m2 for retail and catering space.

According to the planning permission, Bluewater is set to become 20 per cent bigger than it already is.

 

There is no word on what new shops will be but the works will mean a car and coach park and a lake will have to be re-located.

The number of parking spaces will remain the same at approximately 13,000.
