The wife of the Dartford-born Westminster attacker has expressed her condolences to the victims of her husband’s attack, saying she “totally condemns his actions.”
Rohey Hydara spoke out after Khalid Masood’s mother, Janet Ajao, said she “shed many tears” for her son’s victims.
Speaking through the Metropolitan Police, Ms Hydara said: “I am saddened and shocked by what Khalid has done. I totally condemn his actions.
“I express my condolences to the families of the victims that have died, and wish a speedy recovery to all the injured.”
Masood was born Adrian Elms in Dartford on Christmas day in 1964.
The 52-year-old killed four people in an 82-second rampage in Westminster last Wednesday.
Masood was shot dead by police after he fatally stabbed Pc Keith Palmer, 48.
He also killed three members of the public including American tourist Kurt Cochran, married mother-of-two Aysha Drade, 44 and retired cleaner Leslie Rhodes, 75.
IS have called Masood a “soldier of the Islamic State” however, many have noted the terror group has a record of claiming attacks opportunistically.
Khalid Masood
Scotland Yard has said there is "no evidence" that the Muslim convert was linked to Islamic State or al Qaida.
Yesterday, Masood’s mother said she was deeply shocked and saddened by her son’s actions.
She said: "Since discovering that it was my son that was responsible I have shed many tears for the people caught up in this horrendous incident.
"I wish to make it absolutely clear, so there can be no doubt, I do not condone his actions nor support the beliefs he held that led to him committing this atrocity."
Two men arrested in connection with the investigation remain in custody.
Ms Hydara said: "I would like to request privacy for our family, especially the children, at this difficult time.”
