London firefighters attended more than 100 wind-related incidents at the peak of yesterday's storm.

Sixty mph gales saw trees crash down on train lines and overhead electricity cables damaged, leaving services cancelled or significantly delayed in south London last night.

Train services have returned to normal this morning.

A woman was injured in Croydon after a tree was brought crashing down on to a car.

A lorry driver died following a crash with a lamppost in New Cross, south-east London.

Metropolitan Police are investigating whether the severe winds played a part in the crash.
