Police have been given more time to question five teenagers arrested on suspicion of preparing for terrorist acts, including two boys from south London.
The five teenage boys were arrested on Monday, February 20, after searches at four homes in London were carried out on Tuesday, February 14. The Metropolitan Police said their arrests relate to 'plans to travel to join a proscribed organisation'.
Police have now been granted permission to detain a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy arrested in south London, and a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old boy arrested in west London, until Monday, February 27.
A 15-year-old boy arrested in east London can be detained until Friday, February 24.
All five boys remain in custody in a central London police station.
