A man is fighting for his life in hospital following an assault near the O2 Arena.

Police were called to Peninsula Square, the walkway from the O2, at around 3.25am to reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a man unconscious.

He was taken to a central London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers have carried out CCTV enquiries and spoken to witnesses.

They have now releasing an image of a man they would like to speak to as part of their inquiry.

He is described as being olive-skinned, aged in his mid 20s, with black hair that is long and slicked back on top and shaved at the sides. He was wearing black clothing.

Two men, both aged 21, were arrested at nearby North Greenwich Underground Station in connection with the incident.

One was subsequently charged with and is currently bailed to appear at Woolwich Crown Court in March.

The other was bailed by police until a date in late March pending further enquiries.

Anyone who recognises the man in the image released, or anyone who has any information about the incident, are urged to contact police in Greenwich via 101, or by tweeting @MetCC.
