A Queen Mary University of London student from Welling has been missing for almost two weeks.

However when Met Police issued an appeal for information, a lot of the details were incorrect and they used blurry photo of the missing person.

Jer Le Leow, 23, has been missing for almost two weeks and was last seen at 12:30pm on Thursday, January 12.

According to Jer’s family, he was wearing a black hooded coat, khaki coloured trousers and black trainers with a red stripe at the heel at the time of his disappearance.

Jer is of Chinese descent, 165 cm tall and weighs 46 kg. He is autistic and diagnosed with depression.

He is a computer science student at Queen Mary University of London.

However when the police issued an appeal at 4:30pm yesterday, January 23, the statement included several pieces of incorrect information as well as a blurry photo.

The statement issued by police said Jer was last seen at 11am when he was last seen at 12:30pm.

They said it was unknown what he was wearing at the time of disappearance when the family said they did know.

It also stated that he was south Asian, which implies he is Indian or Pakistani rather than Chinese.

It similarly stated that Jer was due to attend Queen Mary University Hospital for class, rather than Queen Mary University of London.

Police updated the article after 1pm today, January 24, almost 24 hours after it had been originally published.

A number of news publications had written about Jer with the incorrect information supplied by the police, including The Sun.
