Three teenagers have been jailed for a total of 37 years for stabbing a Deptford student to death.

Aspiring rapper Myron Yarde, 17, also known by the stage name MDOT, died after being cornered and stabbed in the leg by a group of three teenagers in Camplin Street in New Cross on April 3, 2016.

He and his friends had been involved in an argument over his bike that was stolen earlier in the day, and the attack was a "culmination of hostilities" between the two groups, according to Metropolitan police officers.

Myron was stabbed five times with two knives, four of which were in his left thigh and the fifth into his right thigh, passing into his femoral artery and vein, causing massive internal bleeding.

He had staggered a few yards down the road before collapsing.

He was later pronounced dead at King's College Hospital.

Fauz Richards, 19, of Belvoir Close in Mottingham, was jailed for 13 years for manslaughter at the Old Bailey on Friday, January 13.

Two 16-year-olds, Junior Lukelo-Mami, 16, of Bexley Road in Erith, and Lucas Risch, 16, of Daubeney Tower in Deptford, were also jailed for 12 years.

Risch's sentence for perverting the course of justice was included in his sentence for manslaughter.

Judge Nicholas Cooke lifted reporting restrictions which allowed Lukelo-Mami and Risch to be named for the first time.

Jamie Kennedy, 31, and Charlotte Edmonds, 32, both of Daubeney Tower in Deptford were each jailed for two years and three months for perverting the course of justice after conspiring with Risch to remove, hide or dispose of a knife used to stab Myron.

All five were convicted in the Old Bailey on December 7.

Lukelo-Mami had been arrested on April 7 after he was identified by a witness, with Risch and Richards being arrested after handing themselves in at Lewisham Police Station later in April.

Edmonds and Kennedy had been seen asking for help in disposing of a knife used in the attack and were arrested on April 14.

Detective chief inspector Rebecca Reeves said following the sentencing:

"A young man's life has been lost, leaving his family absolutely distraught. Those responsible, also teenagers, now face significant prison sentences.

"All of this stemmed simply from an argument after Myron's bike was taken by a group of boys from another area.

"Without the presence of knives at this incident, this attack and its terrible consequences for family, friends, brave witnesses who gave evidence, and the whole community, could have been avoided."
