All wards at the Princess Royal University Hospital have re-opened to visitors following two weeks of closure due to an outbreak of norovirus.

Initially some wards were closed on November 11, before all wards were shut three days later on November 14.

Visitors are asked to take extra precautions, as there are still cases of the winter vomiting bug in the hospital and in the community.

The symptoms of the contagious bug include suddenly feeling sick, projectile vomiting, and diarrhoea, according to the NHS website.

Only two visitors are allowed to visit a patient at any one time and this is limited to close family and friends only.

Children are not allowed to visit patients and immuno-compromised people and those who have experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting during the last three days should not visit.

Visitors should wash their hands on entering and leaving the ward, and when entering and leaving the main hospital. Hand washing sinks have been provided at the main entrance to the hospital.
