Keep your fingers crossed for a south-east London winner when The Great British Bake Off airs for the last time on BBC One tonight.

Garden designer Jane Beedle is one of three finalists hoping to become the series champion.

Including surviving a mini-meltdown over caramel shards in the semi-final, Jane has battled her way through to the end and will be seen trying to out-bake Andrew Smyth and Candice Brown when the final is shown at 8pm.

Jane, 61, a mum of two grown-up children who lives in Beckenham with her husband Ray, says she’s up at 5am most mornings to get her bread in the oven and was inspired by her bakery-owning grandfather.

She and her fellow finalists have out-lasted nine other amateur bakers during the competition to get this far.

Tasks tonight are set to include meringues for the signature bake, a technical challenge set by judge Mary Berry that will ask the contestants to complete a British classic after being given just one instruction and no measurements, and a showstopper creation that is said to be the most complex ever set in the competition, with the most bakes ever requested for a challenge.

As usual, the winner will be announced at a celebration attended by the family and friends of the three finalists, as well as the bakers they knocked out in previous rounds.

After this, the seventh series, ends Bake Off will move it to Channel 4 next year.
