If you’ve been paying attention during TV ad breaks, you might just have seen an Eltham school teacher.
Melanie Lewis, a maths teacher at Harris Academy Greenwich, is one of the stars of a national campaign to attract new recruits to the profession.
She features in the Your Future: Their Future adverts being shown on TV in October and November.
Melanie said: “I hope being in this TV advert will encourage more people to come forward to be teachers.
“The rewards of this job are so significant. Every day I get the opportunity to make a difference in somebody’s life and have an impact that can reach future generations. It’s absolutely priceless.
“There’s no other job like this. I’m very happy to be representing teaching in this advert, I want people to be aware of just how rewarding it is.”
Roger Pope, chairman of the National College for Teaching and Leadership, said: “Melanie is one of several inspirational and charismatic teachers who star in our TV campaign, which highlights why teaching is such a rewarding career.
“As a teacher you are changing young people’s lives for the better, inspiring them to fulfil their full potential and realise their ambitions. “
To help attract people into teaching tax-free bursaries and scholarships of up to £30,000 are available in a range of subjects while they train.
