Six fire engines and 30 firefighters tackled a blaze at a cricket pavilion in Downham.

The whole of the wooden building was badly damaged in the fire.

The London Fire Brigade were called to the scene in Rangefield Road at 11.58am and the fire was under control by 1.35pm.

Burnt Ash Primary School wrote on Twitter: "Just to let you know, there is a fire in the cricket club.

"The fire brigade are here and all the children are safely inside."

They added: "Road closed outside school.

"At the end of the day, all children will be sent home via the infant playground.

"All the children are safe."

Fire crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Lee Green, Lewisham and Forest Hill fire stations attended.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
