Detectives investigating a "motiveless" murder in New Cross have released CCTV footage showing two people in the area when the victim was killed.

Andrew Oteng-Owusu, 19, was stabbed at around 11.35pm on Wednesday, August 3 near his home in Upnall House, Sharratt Street.

After a fruitless investigation, police are looking for the two witnesses, who they believe they could have seen or heard something that could be vital in helping to finding Andrew’s killer or killers.

Andrew staggered home and collapsed outside his front door after the stabbing and was taken to hospital, where he died the following morning.

Police also want to speak to a man who is understood to have walked with Andrew back to his block of flats after the attack.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of his death as a single stab wound.

Andrew was a carer for his mother, who is on dialysis

Detective Inspector Tom Dahri, who is leading the investigation for the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “It is nearly two months since Andrew was stabbed near to his home at the junctions of Hornshay Street and Lovelinch Close.

“We know that after he was stabbed he staggered home and collapsed at his front door, where he was found by his mother.

"He has been described as a "gentle giant" and was a carer for his mother, who is on dialysis.

“There are few clues as to why this might have happened.

"The community on the Lovelinch Estate have been really supportive of the investigation, and we have spoken to a number of witnesses so far, but I would still like to speak to a young black man, who we understand walked with Andrew to his block after he had been stabbed.

“Also the two men in the CCTV images we have released who were both walking in the area when Andrew was stabbed.

“It is entirely possible that they may have seen or heard something that could be important to the investigation and it is imperative they come forward.

“I would like to reassure them that they are being treated as witnesses and will be dealt with in the utmost sensitivity.”
