A Woolwich man who tried to hide thousands of pounds worth of drugs up his bum has been jailed.

Toby Brown, 19, of Hardinge Crescent, was jailed for 32 months at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, September 22.

Police suspected Brown had concealed drugs on his person after they traced him in connection with another matter on August 24.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and taken into custody to be searched.

He was then referred to hospital, where he was waiting for an X-ray when he pooed himself, revealing around 20-40 grams of drugs.

The amount recovered has an estimated street value being around £5,000, maybe even as high as £7,500 dependent on the results of testing.

Brown pleaded guilty of possession with intent to supply a Class A Drug - namely heroin - at Bexley Magistrates Court on Thursday, August 25.

Brown was charged on Thursday, 25 August and appeared at court later that day.

PC David Paine, from Greenwich Borough's Gangs Unit, said: "The designated Estates Team, and Gangs Unit in Greenwich, constantly work day and night to rid the streets of those who engage in preying on the vulnerable, supplying Class A drugs within the borough.

"Brown tried to avoid detection by hiding it internally, but it didn't work, and the court result proves we will get our hands dirty to ensure this type of activity stops.

"He used a dangerous tactic to try and conceal drugs but nature took its course and, as a result, he will now spend a significant time in prison.

"This is a clear and strong message to others who choose to live this lifestyle that they can be caught."
