One of Greenwich's iconic red telephone boxes is set to become a tiny workspace for entrepreneurs on the move.

Fitted out with wifi, plugs, a printer, screen, wireless mouse and even a hot drinks machine, the mini work station is aimed to attract workers on the move.

The concept named Pod Works is being launched by New York Company Bar Works Inc at two phoneboxes in the capital.

The first to open in London next month include a phonebox near The Mitre in Greenwich High Road and a pod opposite Senate House in Russell Square, central London.

For a fee of £19.99 a month, users pay for membership to the Pod Works club which gives access to any work station.

The company is also planning to turn other BT phone boxes which are no longer in use into work stations and gradually expanding the concept into major cities across the UK.

Bar Works CEO Jonathan Black said: "Entrepreneurs and others constantly on the move need a convenient, affordable and private place to work.

"Why should they sit in Starbucks or any other coffee bar when using one of our Pods will allow them to truly focus on their job before an important meeting or presentation at less than the price of two cups of coffee a week."
