Armed police stopped a car in Sydenham and arrested a man for suspected possession of a firearm.
Police stopped the car in Sydenham Road at the junction with Mayow Road at 2.57pm on Tuesday afternoon.
A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and a suspected firearm was recovered by police.
The man was taken to a south London police station where he remains for questioning.
The car was also siezed by police.
