Neighbours are in shock after a woman was stabbed to death in a flat in Grove Park on Friday night.

The incident happened in a flat in Somertrees Avenue.

Met Police officers and the London Ambulance Service attended but Donna Williamson, aged 44, died at the scene.

Kevin O'Regan, 37, from Eltham, was charged with murder on Saturday and will appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court in custody today.

Alev Ibrahim, 37, has lived opposite the block of flats where Ms Williamson lost her life for just over eight years.

News Shopper:

She told News Shopper she heard a commotion at about 9.30pm on the evening of the attack but dismissed it as typical Friday night revellers.

She said: “Then at around half 11 or 12 I heard noise and when I looked out I saw the advanced trauma team arriving.

“My partner walked across the road and I saw him put his hand over his mouth – he told me when he came back he had seen a stretcher being brought out with a body on it.

“I didn’t sleep for the rest of the night. It was traumatic.

“I’m absolutely disgusted that something like that could happen here and I feel really unsettled.

“Maybe if we had gone out and intervened it wouldn’t have happened.

“But it was pub finishing time and you quite often hear laughter or shouting.

“It’s really upsetting and a tragic loss of life.”

Neville Stanley, 58, lives on an adjacent street and saw the emergency services arriving just as he was about to go to bed.

News Shopper:

He told News Shopper: “I saw flashing lights, around four police cars and a couple of small ambulances and a big ambulance.

“About 45 minutes later I saw the ambulance crew dressing up and preparing to deal with something.

“There was no urgency so it didn’t seem like someone was being rushed to hospital.

“I had no idea what was going on and I didn’t hang around to look.

“My first thought was that it might be a raid because there was such a big police presence.

“But because the ambulance stayed for so long I began to think there mustn’t have been a chance of survival.”

A post mortem examination took place on Saturday and gave the cause of Ms Williamson's death as stab injuries.

Next of kin have been informed.

O'Regan was charged following an investigation by the Met Police's Homicide and Major Crime Command.
