There will be train delays through Forest Hill until at least the end of the day (August 4) after another hole opened up on the tracks.

Engineers are currently on site carrying out a safety inspection.

This is affecting Southern services travelling towards London Bridge, with trains unable to call at Norwood Junction, Anerley, Penge West, Sydenham, Forest Hill, Honor Oak Park, Brockley and New Cross Gate.

Trains may be diverted via Queens Road, Peckham.

London Overground services are unable to run between New Cross Gate, Crystal Palace and West Croydon.

Thameslink services are unable to run between East Croydon and London Bridge.

Train tickets are being accepted on buses and London Underground on any reasonable route.

This comes after a void opened up above a collapsed sewer at Forest Hill last month, and caused days of commuter chaos.

A spokesman for Southern Rail said the new hole has opened up in a "similar area" to previous one.

A Network Rail spokesman added: "At around 3am this morning we were alerted to a small hole, around 30cm across, which appeared on the railway in the Forest Hill area.

"We offer our apologies to passengers traveling to London through this area this morning as their journey will be disrupted.

"Please check before you travel using National Rail Enquiries."
