Tens of thousands of people crowded to Gravesend’s riverfront for a cracking show of music, funfairs and pony rides.

The Gravesham Riverside Festival kicked off on Saturday with B*Witched and tributes to David Bowie, Take That, Justin Bieber, UB40 headlining the free concert.

Alongside other local acts the festival celebrations pulled in around 20,000 people throughout the celebrations in what was a big family day out.

Other attractions included pony rides, ferret racing, a baby T-Rex and a petting zoo at the Country Fayre in the Fort Gardens.

A youth market with DJ at the Interface Experience was run by the council’s apprentices in the Gordon Gardens with a funfair at the ready for crowds enjoying the sunny weather.

Council leader, Cllr John Cubitt, said: “There was something for everyone and it was marvellous family day out for thousands.

“The music was varied and the efforts of the council staff were remarkable.

“Thanks to everyone who came and made it a wonderful day to remember.”
