Police are appealing for a female dog walker to come forward after a retired racehorse was found dead in Chislehurst.

They believe she may have information about a man seen acting suspiciously in a field where a horse was later found dead.

The incident happened near Kemnal Manor Stables on Friday, July 8.

Officers were called at 3.29pm.

The dog-walker is described as a white woman aged 45 to 50 years with short brown hair.

She spoke with a European accent and was walking a small grey/black dog. She was in the field at around 2pm.

The horse - named Woolfie - rode under the name Woolfall Treasure and was ridden by jockeys including A P McCoy and Richard Hughes.

Woolfie was found to be dead when police arrived at the scene. A vet was called in to examine the animal, and enquiries are still underway to establish the cause of the horse's death.

Police have ruled out the use of a shotgun, or handgun or similar firearm as causing the death and investigations continue into what type of weapon was used.

There have been no arrests and detectives from Bromley Police continue to investigate.

Anyone with information can call police on 101, or mobile number 07919 454 470, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 515 800.
