More than 120 pets have been reportedly stolen over the past three and a half years across Dartford, Gravesham and Sevenoaks, new data shows.

Following a Freedom of Information request to Kent Police statistics show that more than 40 per cent of these pets were swiped in Sevenoaks.

Across all three areas, dogs were the most pried pets of all totalling at least 63 thefts.

The second most stolen pet were birds, making up 25 of the most reported thefts across all three areas.

The figures requested by News Shopper start from 2013 and stretch to June 2016. 

Gravesham

Across Gravesham, 36 pets have been reported as stolen to the police since the beginning of 2013.

These included three birds, four dogs and two other animals whose species weren’t reported in 2013. 

In 2014 the police reported how 13 pets had been snatched, including three birds, four dogs and six other animals which weren’t classified.

There were 12 pets pinched in 2015, including one cat, eight dogs, one fish, one rabbit and one other unclassified species of animal.

In January of this year two more pets have been reported as stolen - one dog and one rabbit.

In total, 17 dogs have been abducted in Gravesham since 2013.

Dartford

Across Dartford 38 pets have been reported as stolen to the police since the beginning of 2013.

In total nine pets were thieved in 2013 across the borough.

These included seven dogs and two fish.

In 2014, 12 pet thefts were reported to police which included one bird, five dogs, four fish and two other animals not specified in police reports.

The following year in 2015 there were 11 pet snatches including eight dogs, one cat and two other animals unspecified by police.

Since the beginning of 2016 six thefts have already been reported to Kent Police, including four dogs and two birds.

24 dogs were reportedly taken across Dartford in the last three and a half years.

Sevenoaks

Sevenoaks showed the worst records with 50 pets reportedly stolen since the start of 2013.

One bird of prey and a reptile were also among the animals pinched in the report. 

In 2013 the police received reports of 17 pet thefts including seven birds, seven dogs, one fish and two other animals not classified in police reports.

In 2014 there were 12 pet thefts including four birds, five dogs, one fish, one bird of prey and one reptile.

In 2015 there were 14 snatches including eight dogs, three birds, one fish and two others that Kent Police haven't specified.

Since the beginning of 2016 seven pets have been swiped including two dogs, two birds and another three unspecified by police.

The data shows that 22 dogs have been stolen in Sevenoaks across the three and a half years, as well as 16 birds.
