A man, in his 50s, was injured during a crash involving two lorries on the M25.

Two HGVs were involved in the smash which happened between the Swanley Interchange and the Darenth Interchange at 2.20am today (July 13).

One man was cut free from the cab of his lorry by fire crews before being taken to Princes Royal Hospital in Orpington with potentially serious leg injuries.

Drivers should expect delays of up to an hour and eight mile long queues on the anti-clockwise carriageway as emergency services work to move the vehicles and clear up a fuel spill.

Delays have been increased due to commuters looking at the accident.

Despite estimating the lane closures to last until 2pm, all four have been reopened.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: "A road closure has been enforced and the lorries are currently awaiting recovery.

"A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, however, he has since been released without charge."

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service added: "Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment to release a man who was placed in the care of ambulance crews."

Highways England is “strongly” encouraging drivers to check the conditions before setting out in the area.
