From drink driving to bicycle theft, numerous north Kent residents have appeared in court in the past few weeks.

Timothy Thomas Dunne, of Knockhall Road, Greenhithe pleaded guilty to drink driving and was sentenced on June 28 at Medway Magistrates’ Court.

The 58-year-old gave a breath test of 83 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped in London Road while driving a Fiat Doblo on April 24. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes in every 100 milliliters of breath.

Magistrates banned Dunne from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Luke Laurence Atkinson, of Keyes Road, Dartford, was sentenced on June 29 at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to possession of cannabis.

On 22 May 2016 the 26-year-old had cannabis in his possession in his hometown.

Magistrates sentenced Atkinson to 100 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, and gave him a 30 day curfew to remain at home between 7pm and 7am daily. The curfew runs until July 28.

He must also pay £85 costs and a £100 victim surcharge.

Gerrard Francis John McKenna, of Mackenzie Way, Gravesend, was jailed for 12 months at Medway Magistrates' Court on June 30.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of attempt burglary, four counts of burglary, two counts of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and one count of failing to surrender to court bail.

He pleaded not guilty to three counts of burglary and three counts of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence but was convicted of the offences by magistrates.

On May 27 last year, the 32-year-old broke into a garage in Stanford-Le-Hope, Essex, and stole copper wire worth £50.

On 4 July last year, he broke into a garage in Charles Drive, Cuxton, and stole a pedal cycle worth £270.

On 10 July last year, he drove a Ford Connect in Whitehill Lane, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

On 12 July last year, he drove a Ford Connect in Whinfell Way, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

On 14 July last year, he broke into an outbuilding in Parrock Street, Gravesend, with the intent to steal, and drove a Ford Connect in Sun Lane, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

On 6 March this year, he drove a Skoda Octavia in Valley Drive, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence. He also attempted to break into a leisure centre in Thong Lane, Gravesend. On a second occasion he broke into the same leisure centre with the intent to steal.

On 7 March, he attempted to break into a pharmacy in The Bay, Vigo. He also broke into a school in Erskine Road, Meopham, with the intent to steal.

On 17 March, he broke into a garage in Barr Road, Gravesend and stole two bikes, camping equipment and golf clubs worth £1,600. He also attempted to break into a garage in Rochester Road, Gravesend, and broke into another garage in Rochester Road with the intent to steal.

On 12 June, he attempted to break into a garage in Gatwick Road, Gravesend, with the intent to steal.

On 22 June, he failed to surrender to bail at Medway Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse and drove a Vauxhall Astra in Wrotham Road, Gravesend, otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

Magistrates sentenced McKenna to 12 months in prison and banned him from driving for 18 months. He must also pay an £80 victim surcharge.

Michael Streames, 51, of School Lane, West Kingsdown was sentenced on June 28 at West Kent Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to drink driving.

On 6 June he gave a breath test of 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped driving a Vauxhall Vivaro in Crowhurst Lane. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned Streames from driving for 24 months and ordered him to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Benjamin White was sentenced on June 28 at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to drink driving.

On 8 May, the 29-year-old, of St Mary’s Road, Wrotham, gave a breath test of 138 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath after driving a Mazda MX5 on the M20 at Aylesford. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates sentenced White to 84 days in prison, suspended for 12 months, banned him from driving for 32 months and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
