Vicky Foxcroft was reportedly forced to hide in her office with police after a man threatened to kill her for not publicly supporting Jeremy Corbyn.

An anonymous caller was put through to the Lewisham Deptford MP’s constituency office in Tanners Hill, Deptford, and said “If she doesn’t support Corbyn I will come down to the office and kick the f*** out of you.”

When the caller said he was on his way and hung up, the Labour whip barricaded herself in her office with police, according to The Telegraph.

Ms Foxcroft told the paper: “As an MP, your skin gets pretty thick, pretty quickly.

“But when John McDonnell calls on Momentum activists to campaign against their MP’s, it doesn’t take that much for people to feel like they should take things into their own hands.

“My staff work hard to provide support for hundreds of my constituents.

“They don’t need this level of abuse and threatening behaviour.

“Understandably, it has been quite a worrying time for them in recent weeks.

“I sincerely hope this is the last of the aggression they will have to receive.”

The incident is said to have taken place on Tuesday, the same day Labour MPs went against Corbyn in an unprecedented vote of no confidence.

She is one of a group of Labour MPs who say they have been subjected to threatening messages and calls over the last few days.

But as the Labour whip, Ms Foxcroft is obliged to remain neutral.

Lewisham East MP Heidi Alexander called the threats “utterly appalling”.

She said: “This is totally unacceptable.

“Vicky Foxcroft and her staff should not have to endure this.”

Ms Alexander was the first in a spate of resignations from the shadow cabinet in protest at Corbyn’s leadership, quitting her post as shadow health secretary on Sunday.

Corbyn has said he still has a “people’s mandate” to remain leader despite the coup from his cabinet and MPs.

He said he will not “betray” the public who overwhelmingly chose him as the leader in the race last year by stepping down.
