A north London man has been charged after a large amount of cash was reportedly stolen from a gurdwara in Gravesend.

Eleazar Allert of Walthamstow has been charged with burglary after the Siri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Saddington Street is believed to have been broken into between midnight and 2am last Friday (June 24).

The 26-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court via virtual court last Saturday (June 25).

At the time of the reported burglary, police stopped a vehicle in Halling just after 2am and arrested a 26-year-old man from London.

Officers were hunting two further suspects who fled from the car.

The burglary comes a day after six teenagers were arrested over a video seemingly of youths trashing a former Sikh temple in Clarence Place.

Police have confirmed that the two incidents are not linked.

Six people have been arrested in connection with this incident and enquiries are on-going.
