The Blackwall Tunnel has reopened following a fuel spillage which saw it closed for a day.
The north-bound tunnel was closed just before 7am yesterday (May 24) after a half-mile-long leak of diesel and hydraulic fluid damaged the road surface.
The extensive spillage covered 3/4 of the tunnel - 1.1km in length - and Transport for London said the surface was too slippery to reopen.
Traffic was reaching as far as the Sun in the Sands roundabout in Shooters Hill Road and the Black Prince Interchange in Bexley.
Emergency crews resurfaced 1km of tarmac in the tunnel following the spillage – and it reopened earlier this morning (May 25).
