A 21-year-old man who died after being stabbed near Lewisham High Street has been named.

Rukevwe Tadafe, 21, who was known as Ruke or Peanut, was rushed to hospital after the stabbing in Molesworth Street, near the junction with the high street, last Saturday just after 8.30pm.

He died yesterday morning (May 5).

Friends have taken to social media to pay tribute to the young man.

Mr Tadafe, who reportedly lived with his family in Deptford, is the second person knifed to death in the Lewisham borough this year, after 17-year-old Myron Yarde was fatally stabbed in New Cross on April, 3.

Next of kin have been informed.

A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

Inquiries continue and no arrests have been made so far. 

The murder investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams from the homicide and major crime command.
