A Dartford teenager is behind bars after tying up an elderly couple and stealing thousands of pounds worth of their belongings.

Jordan Holt, 17, of Elm Road burgled a home in Birchwood Road on September 25 with an unknown accomplice by smashing his way through a glass door at the rear of the property.

The man and woman, both in their 80s, were downstairs in the kitchen when Holt broke in with his hood covering his face.

He demanded the couple get on the ground where he then forced their heads against the floor telling them not to look, before he tied each victim’s hands together using tea-towels and tights he had found in the kitchen.

Holt proceeded to steal a Rolex watch from the man’s wrist before tying his ankles together and dragging him into a separate room away from the woman.

Holding a knife, Holt demanded to be told where the keys were to a Jaguar XFR parked on the drive.

He took the keys out of the man’s pocket and rummaged through the woman’s handbag, stealing cash, before fleeing in the car.

The victims were left tied up, but managed to free themselves.

Detectives carried out extensive enquiries and reviewed CCTV footage in a bid to trace the stolen vehicle and identify the suspects.

Holt was forensically linked to the scene and subsequently arrested on December 15 last year.

He pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on February 1 and sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on April 25 to five years and four months detention.

The second suspect remains outstanding.

Detective Constable Robin Hemsley, investigating officer at Kent Police, said: “This was a terrifying incident for the victims.

“It happened in their home, a place where they should be able to feel safe.”
