A dinosaur, an astronaut and an elf were among some of the crazy costumes making the 2016 London Marathon another record-breaking year.

Major Tim Peake completed the 26.2-mile course on a treadmill in space, achieving a new record for the fastest man to run a marathon in orbit.

The Briton, who could see the streets of London below his feet on an iPad, came in at a time of three hours and 35 minutes at the International Space Station.

Guinness World Records' Head of Records Marco Frigatti described Maj Peake as a "true inspiration".
