A norovirus outbreak has led to the closure of all wards at the Princess Royal University Hospital.

Visitors to the Farnborough hospital will be allowed back when there is no risk of the infection spreading.

This is being regularly reviewed.

A hospital spokeswoman said: “The well being of our patients is paramount.

"As a result, we have closed all wards to prevent the spread of virus to other patients.

“In line with established protocols, we are carrying out deep cleans of affected wards on a regular basis, and staff are being extra vigilant with regards to hand washing.”

Patients are still being accepted but no visitors are allowed unless under exceptional circumstances.

Labour ward

The labour ward and Oasis Birth Centre remain open - women due to give birth at the hospital can attend as normal

The maternity unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) is unaffected by the recent Norovirus outbreak that has led to the closure of other wards to visitors.

Women who are due to give birth at the PRUH can attend the hospital with their birth partner as normal.

Visiting

As a precautionary measure, to prevent Norovirus on the maternity unit we are only permitting one birthing partner, and one visitor on the maternity ward.

Oasis Birth Centre tours

If you are due to attend a tour of the Oasis Birth Centre at the PRUH, please phone 01689 864750 to ensure it’s taking place.

Outpatients

Outpatient services, including antenatal care, also remain unaffected.

Emergency care

As always, we are urging people to help us manage demand for emergency care, and use hospital services wisely. Where appropriate, please consider alternatives to A&E such as visiting a local pharmacist or GP, calling NHS 111, or using NHS Choices.
