A Dartford man hailed five women as “heroines” for helping save an elderly lady’s life – after she was hit by a taxi in Crayford.

Patrick Fahy, 75, of Iron Mill Lane, said he was touched by the actions of the hairdressers, who stayed with the lady for over an hour on Monday (February 8).

She was hit by a taxi in Crayford Road after strong winds blew her into the direction of traffic.

Mr Fahy told News Shopper: “I was coming from Crayford House and I noticed a lady had been knocked down.

“So, I rushed to the nearest charity shop to get her a blanket.

“By the time I got back, there were already five women from the Raw hairdressers shop around her.

“They stayed with the elderly lady for an hour and 15 minutes - I’ve never seen such a good deed like that done by anyone in my life.

“They wouldn’t let go of her hand - the women were so, so good.”

Mr Fahy could not believe it when he saw the five women standing around the elderly lady, diverting traffic away from where she was lying in the road.

He claims that if the women had not done that, the victim would have been hit by the next car.

The part-time worker at St Paulinus church said: “They’re all heroines without question – if they didn’t come out of the shop at the time that they did, then the next car would’ve hit the lady.

“At first, she was on the ground and wasn’t breathing or moving for about 20 minutes.

“I didn’t know if she was going to survive.

“The women showed such care for her and you hear about all the bad things going on in this world but what I saw was amazing.”

Met Police have said the elderly lady is recovering well.
