Falling trees have crushed a car in Anerley and crashed into a house in Bellingham, as Storm Imogen continues to batter the UK.

The latest casualties come after train services were disrupted over the weekend when a tree fell onto the tracks near Kidbrooke.

Winds of up to 80mph swept across the UK today, as Storm Imogen leaves a swathe of damage and more than ten thousand homes without power in her wake.

In Anerley a large tree was ripped from its roots in Worbeck Road, before it crashed down on a car below.

The post-apocalyptic scene was captured on camera by a passer-by.

Elsewhere in the borough another tree was ripped out of the ground in Palace View, near Bromley South station, smashing into the front exterior of someone’s house.

And in Brockley a tree was knocked over in Norbert Road.

On Saturday afternoon, high winds brought down a tree near Kidbrooke which halted services on the Lewisham to Dartford, via Bexleyheath line.

Southeastern posted on Twitter: “SE UPDATE The power is being turned off so the Chainsaw team can work on the track to chop up the tree.”
