Bus users in Orpington could see changes to their services, as Transport for London (TfL) proposes to review several key routes.

The proposals being consulted at the moment would affect the following routes:

- R1 Green Street Green to Grovelands

- R2 Biggin Hill Valley to Petts Wood station

- R3 Locksbottom to Chelsfield Village

- R7 Orpington to Bickley

- R11 Sidcup Queen Mary’s Hospital to Green Street Green

TfL is calling on the public to share their views on the proposals, which can be viewed online until March 13 or discussed at drop in sessions across Bromley.

TfL has proposed to change route R1, by using Tower Road to create a more direct and quicker route to Orpington station, as well as no longer serving the northern section of Sevenoaks Road.

The R2 route would be shortened so it runs from Biggin Hill to Orpington, rather than carrying on through Orpington High Street and Petts Wood.

News Shopper:

Route R3 could also be shortened, running between the Princess Royal University Hospital and Orpington Hospital, via Amherst Drive rather than Poverest Road.

TfL is proposing to extend the R7 route at both the northern and southern end.

The route would start at Chislehurst’s Bromley Road, through Petts Wood, Orpington and finish at the Five Bells in Chelsfield.

Route R11 would be shortened by two stops, no longer stopping at Edgington Way, Sidcup Tesco or Orpington Hospital.

TfL staff will be available to discuss the proposals on February 15 at Chislehurst Library between 4pm and 7pm, February 16 at The Aubrey Mullock Hall in Orpington between 1pm and 7pm, February 25 at The Poverest Centre in Orpington, between 12pm and 3pm.
