A gunman has been jailed for 14 years following a shooting in Bellingham.
Shawano Crichton, of Campshill Road, Lewisham, shot a 21-year-old man in the leg in Firhill Road at around 9pm on April 12, last year.
The 22-year-old fled the scene in a white BMW and was arrested in Bristol the following evening.
Police examined his phone and discovered he had read reports of the shooting on a local newspaper website and used WhatsApp to send a link to one of the stories to his girlfriend.
His victim was taken to hospital with a gunshot injury to his leg and later discharged.
Crichton was found guilty at Woolwich Crown Court of GBH with intent and possessing a firearm with intent.
He was sentenced on Friday, January 29, to 10 years for GBH with intent and 14 years for possessing the firearm, to run concurrently.
