Fifteen people caught illegally dumping rubbish, littering or spitting have been collectively fined more that £4,600.

Appearing before Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday the offenders were charged with an array of offences from illegally dumping household rubbish and furniture to dropping cigarette butts as part of Croydon Council’s ‘Don’t Mess With Croydon – Take Pride’ campaign.

Since launching in summer 2014, the campaign has seen more than 70 people prosecuted.

Councillor Stuart Collins, deputy leader clean green Croydon, said: “Our campaign is about getting people to take pride in their area and clamping down on those who flout the law, and these latest offences underline once again why this campaign is so important.”

People prosecuted on Tuesday were: Krishnakumar Kumaraguru, 43, from London Road in Thornton Heath, was fined £914 for dumping household waste and cardboard in Colliers Water Lane and giving false personal details.

Armando Carriel, of Bolder Way in West Wickham, was fined £452 for illegally dumping household waste on the ground in Monks Orchard recycling centre.

Jacquadi Heron, 20, of The Coppins in New Addington, was fined £452 for dumping household waste in The Coppins.

Alpesh Patel, from Bishops Walk in Addington, was fined £265 for dumping household waste on the ground at Monks Orchard recycling centre.

Aneta Glowacki, 21, of Fir Tree Gardens in Shirley, was fined £245 for dumping household waste in Fir Tree Gardens.

Seyhan Parmak, from Myrtle Road in Shirley, was fined £100 for dumping household waste in Myrtle Road.

Claire Gibbs, of Arnhem Drive in New Addington, was fined £100 for dumping household waste in Milne Park East.

Savalota Rosta, from Zermatt Road in Thornton Heath, was fined £452 for spitting in Boswell Road, Thornton Heath.

Barry Abbott, 40, from Portland Road in South Norwood, was fined £100 for dropping a cigarette in George Street in Croydon.

Lourdita Ablin Tan, 50, from Gipsy Hill in Gipsy Hill, was fined £265 for dropping a cigarette in Wellesley Road in Croydon.

Janine Rose, 46, from Martin Crescent in Waddon, was fined £100 for dropping a cigarette in North End in Croydon.

Keylee Harwood, 26, from Central Parade in New Addington, was fined £452 for dropping a cigarette in Central Parade.

Stacey Jackson, of Burdett Road in Selhurst, was fined £175 for dropping a cigarette in Park Street on and giving false personal details.

Justyna Krasicka-Kotula, 25, from London Road in west Croydon, was fined £100 for dropping a cigarette in North End in Croydon.

Jess Cowlard, 24, from Portland Road in South Norwood, was fined £452 for dropping a cigarette in Mint Walk.

The ‘Don’t Mess With Croydon – Take Pride’ campaign combines enforcement action against fly-tippers and littering with a drive encouraging residents to sign up as local champions and arrange council-backed clean-ups.
