A date has been set in stone for the grand opening of the seven-screen cinema in Orpington.

After 30 years with no picture-house the Odeon, in the High Street, will finally open in one month's time, February 26.

With plans for the new development announced back in 2013, the official launch date had been pushed back after numerous delays.

The venture was waylaid by businesses unwilling to rent the units around the cinema, which stands on the site of the former job centre.

Now nearing completion, the 981 seat cinema also has a pizza place on site, as well as a high definition ISENSE screen.

Odeon, which have invested £4 million into the project, say the new development will create 46 new jobs.

Also planned for the site are restaurant Bella Italia, Puregym a B&M store and a hotel.
