A £3.9m investment programme in Erith has been given the green light.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson’s London Regeneration Fund has allocated just under £2m for Erith, which will be matched by Bexley Council.
The funds are set to create major improvements to key areas of the town - particularly between the town hall and the post office.
The bid was granted by the mayor of London, Boris Johnson
The council claims that the money will also improve training and job opportunities for residents.
Councillor Linda Bailey, cabinet member for Regeneration and Growth said: “The success of our bid is great news for the town.
“Erith has huge potential and our aim is to ensure it is developed in a sustainable way, with well-designed improvements that deliver the results local people need.
“We have also made complementary bids to two further funds managed by the mayor of London and hope to be able to say more on that in the next few weeks.”
