A woman was rushed to hospital after an ambulance car was involved in a crash with a Smart vehicle in Bromley. 

The ambulance vehicle was badly damaged after it smashed into a blue Smart car in Kentish Way at the junction with Masons Hill at around 2.35pm today (January 20).

Bodywork from the front of the ambulance car was left strewn across the road following the collision.

The dark blue Smart car was also badly scratched and dented.

Paramedics took the woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, to King's College Hospital as a priority. 

The paramedic, who was driving the ambulance car, was shaken but did not need hospital treatment.

A London Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A London Ambulance Service car was involved in a road traffic collision with another car at Kentish Way in Bromley at 2.33pm today.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a single responder by car and two incident response officers to the scene."

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area as the road has been closed.

Bromley police officers, who shared a photo of the damaged ambulance car on Twitter, said: "Delays Masons Hill/Kentish Way. Please avoid. 3pm."

Transport for London Traffic News tweeted: "A21 Kentish Way j/w Mason's Hill (Bromley)- A21 blocked n//bound & Mason's Hill is blocked e/b across the jcn (collision). Q's on approach."

Bus routes 61, 208, 261, 320, 336 and 358 are diverted southbound and not serving Bromley High Street, Bromley South station and Masons Hill.
