Three people have been injured after a vehicle smashed into a police car on an emergency call in Deptford.

The blue car crashed into the marked police vehicle at a four-way junction in Deptford Church Street at around 2.50pm on Monday (January 18).

Two police officers were taken to hospital and the driver of the other vehicle, a woman, was treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service paramedics.

Pictures have emerged on Twitter showing the blue Mazda car with its front end hanging off and the police vehicle parked nearby with a dented side panel.

Lawrence Williams, from Sevenoaks, witnessed the aftermath of the crash.

The 45-year-old told News Shopper: "I arrived literally minutes after, steam was rising from the crashed Mazda and a clearly shaken female officer was sitting on the pavement.

"The Mazda looked like it had smashed the police car into a traffic light as there was damage to both sides of the police vehicle.

"It looked like all side impact, the airbags had been deployed in the police vehicle."

The surrounding roads were sealed off by police and the junction closed in all directions.
