Tributes have flooded in for an Erith doctor described as a "loving husband," and "wonderful father", killed in a crash in Dartford on New Year's Eve. 

Dr Wilson Fok, 59, who worked as a GP at Northumberland Heath Medical Centre in Hind Crescent, died after being hit by a white Mercedes Vito van in Heath Lane at about 7.50pm.

Dr Fok was walking with his wife near a car park in the direction of Princes Road, on the way to bring in the New Year at Dartford Golf Club, when the crash happened.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His wife and children said in a statement: "He was a loving husband, wonderful father, loyal friend and well respected GP.

"Dad was an amazing father and real family man. Our house was always full of love and laughter – especially with his terrible 'dad jokes.'

"He taught us the same values he believed in, making us the children we are today.

"He has a huge family contingent in Hong Kong and regularly went back to visit; he loved tennis and played regularly with his merry band of tennis friends; he was learning French; enjoyed sailing and went ballroom-dancing every week with Mum.

"Dad had been a GP for 30 years serving patients of Erith and neighbouring areas.

"He was an excellent doctor, a true gentleman, very courteous, helpful and above all showed great care for the well-being of his patients.

"It has been evident over the last few days how sorely missed Dad will be to all his family, friends, colleagues and patients."

Tributes left at the scene of the fatal crash

Tributes to the "caring" doctor flooded into News Shopper from patients and friends.

Alan Judd said: "Wilson Fok was the kindest most caring friend to me for 41 years. 

"People like Wilson enter your life very rarely and should be cherished. 

"My heartfelt sympathy to his widow and his children and the many friends whose lives he has touched in such a positive way. I can’t believe you have gone dear friend."

Susan Stanley added: "You were always a true gentleman, my autistic son adored you, our condolences go out to your family, may they find peace in how many lives you touched. Sleep well my friend."

Another patient said: "Dr Fok was indeed a gentleman. He was also a courteous and caring doctor. 

"On the last occasion I saw him Dr Fok made absolutely sure I was satisfied with his decision and assured me always to come back if I was worried. He was a star."

A spokesman for the medical centre added: "His family are devastated by this loss, as are we at the practice.

"We as a practice have been in close touch with his family and will do all we can to support them.

"All the staff members at Northumberland Heath Medical Centre are shocked and saddened by this sudden unexpected loss of our dear colleague. We will miss him greatly.

"We have set up a condolence book in his consulting room.

Officers from the serious collision investigation unit would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident.

They are particularly keen to speak to the drivers of a vehicle that travelled in the opposite direction to the van at the time of the collision and who may have seen what happened.
