A Longfield man hopes to raise thousands of pounds to help a school friend with terminal cancer make memories with her four-year-old "miracle son".

Kelly Morris, 40, who grew up in Longfield, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in July after suffering severe headaches while on holiday.

An operation to remove a tumour in July was successful and Miss Morris started chemotherapy but was rushed to hospital last month, unable to stand.

On December 3 doctors told the single mum-of-one that treatment had stopped working.

Best friend Lloyd Green, of Merton Avenue, said: "It is devastating to be losing such a beautiful friend.

"She is such a caring person, she used to be a carer for special needs and disabled people.

"She is incredibly kind."

Miss Morris was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in July 2010 and was forced to have one of her ovaries removed.

She was told by medics that it was unlikely she would ever have children - but the former Longfield Academy pupil found out she was expecting Jacob during her first scan after being given the all-clear.

Mr Green added: "Three months after her ovary was removed and she had the all clear, a little miracle happened.

"On her first routine check up, they found she was pregnant. She was so, so pleased and calls Jacob her 'little miracle boy'.

"She is a fantastic mother and Jacob loves her to bits."

The 41-year-old has now teamed up with fellow school pals to raise £5,000 for the youngster and his mum.

He said: "After she's gone he will be cared for by Kelly's mum.

"We just want to raise enough money for Kelly to make sure he is cared for, whether it's books for school or money for them to have a special holiday and make memories together.

"Jacob adores his mummy and just wants her for Christmas."

School friends Faye and Kerry set up an online fundraising page for the pair after consulting Mr Green about their idea.

So far 124 people have donated to the cause - raising £3,505.

Mr Green said: "She has already started writing him birthday cards to read after she is gone.

"I can't imagine how hard that must be. She is a very brave woman."
