Five men have been arrested after a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the head and back in a Lewisham street brawl.

Police were called to a fight, which broke out outside Tesco Express in Lewisham High Street at the junction with Longbridge Way, at around 3.30am on Saturday (December 5).

The stab victim was taken to a south London hospital where he remains but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening

A second man, who was also taken to hospital with minor injuries, was arrested on suspicion of GBH, along with four others, all aged in their 20s, who were traced to nearby roads.

All five are currently in custody at a south London police station.

Lewisham High Street and Longbridge Way were cordoned off for several hours as police investigated the incident.
