Noisy neighbours in Bromley had their stereos and speakers confiscated after playing music too loudly.

Following complaints of excessively loud tunes, two men have been prosecuted by the council and served fines after a hearing at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.

Daniel Cronin, of Calverley Close, Beckenham, failed to attend court but was found guilty in his absence.

He was found to be the cause of 'noise nuisance' on August 19 and 26 this year.

Cronin was fined £200 and ordered to pay £150 Criminal Courts Charge, as well as being charged £1,468 in costs.

He will have to pay up within 28 days.

The council’s noise team also obtained a warrant and seized speakers and stereos from Cronin’s house.

Cronin was previously found guilty and prosecuted for three other noise offences in July this year.

The second man was Wayne Netherwood, of Grovelands Road in Orpington, who was also prosecuted for having the volume too loud.

Netherwood, who failed to attend court as well, was fined £500, ordered to pay £150 Criminal Courts Charge, a £20 victim surcharge and told to pay £1,402 in costs within 28 days.

His music equipment was also seized and donated to charity.

Coun Kate Lymer, executive member for public protection and safety said: “This action shows that those who have little regard for their neighbours, and cause a nuisance will be dealt with using the powers available to our officers.”
