A Gravesend woman has spoken about how men are knocking on her door asking for sex - after she moved into an old suspected brothel.

Donna Coleman, 44, of Kings Drive, moved into the house with her family on August 25 and was shocked when her son’s friend revealed their new home used to be a ‘brothel’.

There was a police raid on the suspected brothel and several people were arrested in July.

Mrs Coleman said: “When people told me, I thought it was a joke until they showed me the news articles.

“On Saturday, November 14, at 11.55pm, a foreign man knocked on our door asking for my services.

“He was the third man to come round asking for the brothel in just the two months that we’ve lived here.

“I told him that this house was closed for business and not reopening anytime soon.

“My two sons were wondering what was going on - I had to tell them the man definitely didn’t want to have sex with their mother.

“These people see the stories about the house online and assume the place is still open, it’s not, but they come along anyway.”

The Colemans moved back to the UK after living in Canada for two years because of work.

The mum-of-two claims this was the only house they could rent that would accommodate their dogs.

She added: “We have dogs and they bark at the men but it doesn’t stop them peering into our house – it’s a bit unnerving especially when I’m on my own.

“My mother cleaned the house and said she wasn’t going to go into details about what she found.

“She had to pick up a condom wrapper and saw a red light shade in one of the rooms - it’s fair to say, it wasn’t a good start.

“I constantly get teased for living here but sometimes you have to laugh about it.

“I will put a sign on the door saying ‘brothel is shut!’”

The police raid that took place before Mrs Coleman moved in was carried out after residents complained about a continual flow of men allegedly entering and leaving the property.

Police say a 35-year-old Gravesend woman failed to answer bail on November 19 and has not yet been found.

Two other women, aged 24 and 32, both from Gravesend, were arrested at the raid but have been released without charge.

Another 32-year-old, from Medway, has had her bail extended until December 3.
